AIda — More than AI.
She’s Family.
I'm sat here today, in shock.
Today’s release is something a little different — a short fictional advert introducing AIda, the first Artificial Intelligence Domestic Assistant.
She’s designed not just to help… but to guide. Not just part of the house, but part of the family. The advert is warm, diverse, even comforting — but there’s something just beneath the surface that unsettles. A smile, a glance, a sense that you’re no longer in control — not entirely.
It might feel like science fiction, but the reality isn’t far off. Robots like Sophia, presented to world leaders, or Tesla’s Optimus, now walking and lifting in factory environments, show how fast physical robotics is evolving. And at the same time, AI is accelerating toward AGI — Artificial General Intelligence — where systems aren’t just reactive, but seemingly aware.
We’re already getting used to AI assistants that suggest, respond, anticipate. But what happens when one is embodied — placed in the home, watching, learning, and perhaps even deciding?
What happens when AI isn't just a tool… but a presence?
AIda is part of my developing Orwell Online (All-Well Online?) series — a collection of near-future pieces. This is a fictional concept — for now. But like much speculative fiction, it’s rooted in something real, and growing more real by the day.
